My name is Elise, and I am a Minnesota native turned New Yorker. Raised on hearty meals and sub-zero temperatures, I sometimes feel like I walked out of a Laura Ingall’s book (in the best possible way). I believe in cooking from scratch and avoiding processed foods and products, but I also believe that moderation is the best medicine. Going back to the basics brings me joy but so does eating the occasional greasy $1 slice.

I work for a publisher of beautiful cookbooks and lifestyle books in the City and am married to a charming Australian–my best friend and fellow traveler, Doug. We have one pet: a rescue cat named Fred. And we hope to one day add a stocky dog and a non-fur baby to the mix.
